It’s worth noting that Matt Barvo’s BJJ credentials have been questioned for some time without satisfactory response. Matt has claimed at different times to be affiliated with Brasa, Leo Vieira, and several MMA/BJJ sponsors that deny any knowledge of or partnership with Matt Barvo or Team Beast. Matt has yet to provide concrete, verifiable evidence of his BJJ credentials.

    Jordan,

USA Jiu Jitsu has erased all mentions to Mr. Barvo’s Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu until further notice. We appreciate your warning, but we have officials investigating the same issue.

We’ll share our findings here and on Bullshido as we collect them.

The Vieira brothers, Checkmat and Fightzone USA, which previously established affiliation with Team Beast, have retracted that affiliation after an extensive and at times NSFW investigation by the MMA Underground forum: http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum.posts&forum=1&thread=1747801&page=1

Matt Barvo has not responded to any further requests by the BJJ community to defend his claims of having received a legitimate black belt, and as of this weekend, shut down his team web site and closed all social media portals to Team Beast.

USAJJ is the only organization that is still backing Barvo. It definitely brings up a lot questions as to why they refuse to disassociate themselves with a known fraud.

What’s up USAJJ? Why do you still have this fake BB up on your site? And your only response is back on Dec 6th? The investigation has proven he is a fraud and made it real simple for you to verify thier work. Get with the program.
